About the Artist
Benjamin Schüle, born in Schaffhausen, discovered his passion for rhythm instruments early on. After specializing in drums, percussion, and xylophone, he studied classical percussion at the Schaffhausen Conservatory. He expanded his skills through master classes and further education, and was awarded the Schaffhausen Walther Bringolf Prize in 1998.
In recent years, he has particularly devoted himself to the marimba, developing a new playing technique that combines the advantages of the Stevens and Burton techniques.
About the Marimba
The marimba has its roots in Africa and was documented there as early as the 16th century. The term “Marimba” was first recorded in the writings of the Italian missionary Giovanni Antonio Cavazzi in the 17th century. Today, the marimba is an integral part of classical music, enabling unique soundscapes.
